The value of our PCV training
The aim is to ensure the path to professional driving is as straightforward as possible. Trainers share 40 years of industry insight and understand what matters most on the road. We provide a supportive learning environment that answers every question and continues to offer additional support as you grow in your role. Up-to-date training and advice keep you qualified and ready for changes as regulations evolve.
Step-by-step licence support
Step 1
Get your provisional LGV/HGV/PCV learner's licence without delay and study for your theory tests. You need a PCV medical exam, which your GP can do, or we can arrange it. Once the doctor has completed the D4 medical examination form, you'll need to fill in form D2 and post both forms, along with your current driving licence, to the DVLA. Your licence should then be returned within approximately 1–3 weeks with the provisional entitlements added.
Step 2
Once you have received your licence, you can now book your multiple-choice theory test and hazard perception by calling the DVSA. Alternatively, you can book online through this link www.gov.uk/book-theory-test
Step 3
Contact Hamilton's to arrange a time to come in and meet the team. Once you've decided you would like to use Hamilton's, we will book your 1-hour assessment. Our friendly staff will customise your training and test requirements to meet your unique needs.
Step 4
To then earn money as a professional driver, you must obtain a Driver Qualification Card (DQC)
Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) is taken in 2 parts
(Module 2) Case Study Theory Test
(Module 4) Practical Demonstration Test
Your DQC will be valid for five years, and during that time, to renew the card, you need to complete 35 hours of periodic training.
